Reggae singer Lila Iké continues her rise on the international stage as she prepares to perform at the Grammy Awards for the first time, marking another milestone in her fast-growing career. The Manchester-born artiste, a first-time nominee in the Best Reggae Album category, is set to make history at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday with a debut performance at the event’s official opening ceremony. The announcement was made by Iké herself on social media on Wednesday, where she reflected on the significance of the moment. “I remember the little girl who loved singing and decided she wanted to be an artiste. Attending the GRAMMYs was a very big dream of hers. Now, not only do I get to walk the red carpet as a nominee, but I’m also honoured to be performing at the opening ceremony. God is amazing,” she shared, alongside a poster confirming her performance. Iké is the only female nominee in the Best Reggae Album category this year, competing against fellow Jamaican acts Vybz Kartel, Jesse Royal, Keznamdi, and Mortimer. Her nomination has already been widely praised as a breakthrough moment for women in reggae. Her critically acclaimed album Treasure Self Love marks her debut full-length project and has been celebrated for its introspective themes, musical depth, and global appeal. The album features collaborations with Grammy-winning R&B star H.E.R., rapper Joey Bada$$, and reggae artiste and longtime mentor Protoje, himself a previous Grammy nominee. A win would place Iké in rare company, making her only the second woman in history to receive the Best Reggae Album award, following Koffee’s landmark victory. The 2026 Grammy Awards will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where Iké’s performance and nomination are expected to shine a spotlight on a new generation of reggae artists making waves on the world stage.
